Big Brother 19 - Episode 23: Paging Dr. Will Kirby...

First, you’ll have to forgive me.  I wasn’t feeling my best yesterday evening, so I watched the episode without taking notes.  This recap may not be as robust as the others, so I’ll just hit the hot spots.

Kevin is missing his family, and Cody confides in him that he has a daughter.  I completely forgot that fact.  Cody doesn’t want that information used against him in the game, so the only other person he told was Jessica.  Kevin’s been really good about keeping his secrets, so I don’t think the rest of the house will find out.

Cody’s only chance to save himself is to play in the Veto competition.  Names are drawn, and he is not among them.  It’s a classic game where points are earned in each round, and the person with the fewest number of points is eliminated and gets to claim their prize.  In these comps, the Veto is always the first prize won but eliminated HGs can keep their prize, or trade it for someone else’s.  The Veto always bounces around in this comp.

Paul is eliminated first, so he wins Veto.  Mark is eliminated second, but seeing as how he isn’t up on the block and earned safety for the week, he decides to keep his adventure vacation prize. Jason is next, earning a Tandem Skydiving punishment, where the person is strapped to another HG of their choice for 48 hours.  He swaps with Paul for Veto.  Matt is next, getting the Extremeitard punishment that has to be worn for a week.  He swaps with Jason for Veto.  Elena and Alex are last.  Elena makes a deal with Alex that whomever wins won’t put a punishment on the other.  Alex is eliminated and gets $5,000.  Elena is the winner and gets the prize of Camp Guide, where the person has to dress in full camping gear.  When the bugle goes off, they have to set up a full campsite per the diagram, cook a hot dog for each houseguest, then deliver said hot dogs.  Elena isn’t quite sure what to do, so she looks over to the people who aren’t playing in the comp.  Cody mouths the word “money” to her.  Elena goes back on the deal SHE INITIATED with Alex, gives Alex the punishment and goes for the $5,000.  Needless to say, Alex is PISSED.  The specifically said they wouldn’t curse each other.  Elena is on the block and she doesn’t go for Veto?  She’s a bit too comfortable for my taste, and I think that she should feel the pressure.

Alex has now shifted from Cody to Elena as her main target.  No one trusts her, and by going back on a deal not two minutes after it’s made shows the house she can’t be trusted.  Of course, Cody is in Elena’s ear telling her that “she needs to get what she can, while she can” and “she’s not going to win, so go for the easy money”.  While all of that is true, Cody’s only trying to further his own game and Elena should’ve realized that from jump.  Elena even asked Cody straight out, “do you think me taking this money puts a bigger target on my back?” and he unequivocally says YES.  I mean, did she honestly not see that coming?  It’s not like she and Alex are besties, not even remotely close!  Elena’s a floater out for self, and it’s going to bite her in the ass since she’s so obvious with it.

Cody tries to talk to Alex multiple times about not putting him up on the block this week, and going after Elena.  Alex seems to consider it, if only for the purpose of going over all scenarios to see which would best benefit her game.  At the Veto ceremony, Matt pulls Jason off so that Cody can go up as a replacement nominee.  Barring something crazy, Cody will be the first to go home tonight…double eviction, remember??  They need to get Cody out now.  Yes, he is the big, bad threat, but so was Will Kirby.  Everyone kept passing him over for eviction because they wanted to get other targets out of the house, knowing that Will would always be evicted…only he wasn’t.  He went on to win BB2.  We can see the current world we live in and know that if you don’t learn from history, you’re doomed to repeat it.  The HGs need to vote Cody out tonight.  Hopefully they can get Elena out right behind him.

Side Note: This week's comp came with an Outback Steakhouse dinner reward.  Matt chose everyone who competed in the comp to join him, but Paul gave his spot to Christmas since the two have been strapped to each other in the Tandem punishment.  I joked that it would be funny if they had to stay strapped together and one could eat while the other couldn't, but even Big Brother isn't that cruel...yet.

What do you think? Do you see Cody traveling down Will’s path?  Let me know what’s on your Big Brother mind!
